Bursaries
Bursary Opportunities
We believe that every writer should have access to the best advice, tools and opportunities to take their writing further, and we’re working to ensure that we do our bit to make that possible. That’s why we always offer bursary opportunities to under-represented writers where we can. Take a look below for current opportunities.
Self-Edit Your Novel Course Bursary
With thanks to tutors Debi Alper and Emma Darwin, we’re able to offer a fully-funded place for an under-represented writer on our most popular tutored course.
Bursary applications are now open!
Deadline: 6 December 2024
Mentoring Bursary
With thanks to a generous donation from a previous mentee, we’re delighted to offer a fully-funded block of 5 hours of mentoring for an under-represented writer or a writer aged 25 and under.
Applications are currently closed.
London Festival of Writing 2024 Bursaries
This year we are pleased to offer three bursary opportunities for the London Festival of Writing 2024 with the Marve Michael Anson Bursary for Black writers, and the Jericho Writers Bursary for low-income authors.
Deadline: 23.59 GMT on 1 May 2024
Pitch Jericho Sponsored Entry
We’re pleased to share that author Vikki Patis has kindly sponsored one Pitch Jericho entry for an under-represented writer.

Agent One-to-One Bursary
With thanks to literary agent Hannah Schofield from LBA Books, the Agent One-to-One Bursary offers a free agent one-to-one session to authors from low-income households.
We know how valuable the advice of a literary professional can be, and so we are delighted to be able to extend this opportunity to authors for whom the cost of an Agent One-to-One session would be a barrier.
Applications are now closed.
