Bursary Opportunities
We’re delighted to announce that applications are now open for two London Festival of Writing Bursaries, created to support low‑income writers who might otherwise be unable to attend.
This year, two bursary places are available:
- One fully funded place supported by Jericho Writers.
- One partially funded place (offering £125 off a Weekend Ticket) generously supported by a literary agent and a previous Festival member who prefer to remain anonymous.
Both bursaries follow the same terms and conditions, and both are intended specifically for writers on low incomes. If you feel you could comfortably afford to attend without financial support, please leave these places for those who genuinely need them. The Festival of Writing is a rare chance to learn from industry professionals, connect with fellow writers, and invest in your craft. If cost has been a barrier, this could be the opportunity that opens the door.
What’s included?
Both bursary places, one fully funded and one partially funded offering £125 off a Weekend Ticket, provide access to the full Festival of Writing weekend experience.
Your Weekend Ticket includes:
- Access to all workshops and panels across the whole weekend
- Access to The Writer’s Hall networking event with literary agents in attendance
- Two one-to-one sessions with literary agents and/or book doctors
- Entry to Friday Night Live writing competition (finalists read live and winner announced on Saturday 13 June)
- Two-course gala dinner on Saturday evening
- Buffet lunch provided on both days
- Tea and coffee provided on both days
Please note: accommodation and travel costs are not covered by either bursary.
How to apply
This bursary is designed specifically for low‑income writers. If you are in a position to comfortably afford a standard ticket, we kindly ask that you purchase one instead, so these funded places can support those who truly need them. When you complete the application form, you’ll see two options:
- Fully Funded Place – covers the full cost of a Weekend Ticket
- Partially Funded Place – provides £125 off a Weekend Ticket
Please apply for only one of the two options, whichever best reflects your circumstances in the form below. Both options follow the same terms and conditions, and all applications are assessed with care and fairness.
Deadline for applications: 23.59 GMT on Sunday 10 May. Late applications will not be considered.
