Great question! We didn’t want this month to only celebrate those who can write super quickly, so we’ve decided to offer three prizes which can be won for three different reasons…
For the most words written
The person with the top leaderboard position for words written and submitted via our form by midnight on 30 November (BST) will win a critique on up to 500 words of their choosing.
For consistently showing up
By showing up and adding your wordcount, however big or small, every single day for the whole of November to our tracker, you will be entered into a prize draw to win 1 hour’s mentoring with author Becca Day.
For being the best writing buddy
You have to be nominated to win this one! Throughout the month, you can nominate another member who has supported you or just generally been a great writing buddy, to win an hour’s mentoring with author Sophie Flynn.

Can I join in the virtual writing retreat without being a Premium Member?
You can get involved in the Townhouse community and add your word count to our tracker, thereby being in with the chance of winning prizes, for free. However, the daily Zoom writing sprints, online workshops, masterclasses, video writing courses, access to AgentMatch and feedback on your work is reserved for our Premium Members.
To join, you can purchase one of our membership options. If you would just like to join just for the Virtual Writing Retreat, you can purchase a Flex Membership for £30. Once the month is up, you’re free to cancel (though we hope you’ll stay!). Please be aware if you choose the Flex membership option and wish to cancel after one month, we recommend purchasing on 1 November to ensure you get the full virtual writing retreat experience before your 30 day access ends. It’s more cost effective to join us for a whole year, which you can do here.
I’m not based in the UK. Will the Virtual Writing Retreat still be worth it for me?
You can get involved on Townhouse whatever time of the day or night you’d like! The Virtual Zoom writing sprints will be held mostly at 4pm GMT, however they will be later from 4 November to 8 November (taking place at 8pm GMT instead) so that our international members can take part too.
What genres are suitable for taking part in the virtual writing retreat?
Any genre! The point of the Virtual Writing Retreat is to encourage you to write. Whether that’s a novel, a short story, a memoir or a non-fiction project, we welcome all writers of all stages.
What are the different membership options?
We offer two types of membership – Free and Premium.
Free Membership: join our global community of writers on Townhouse and be the first to hear the latest news with writing newsletters from the Jericho Writers’ Team.
We offer two membership plans for Premium Membership:
Annual Premium Membership: This is an annual subscription. You can choose to pay in one upfront payment or in 12 monthly instalments. For the full terms and conditions, please see here.
Premium Flex Membership: This monthly subscription option gives you full access to our Premium Membership and renews automatically every month for £30, unless you cancel. It can be cancelled at any time, unlike the Annual Premium Membership.
Please be aware that if you intend to use a Flex Membership to just access our virtual writing retreat and cancel before the month ends, your access will be limited to 30 days after purchase.

What happens if I upgraded from a Free Member to the Premium Membership?
Your login details will remain the same. Now as a Premium Member you can access all elements of your membership via your Dashboard or the My Jericho menu. Your Townhouse posts, groups, forums, messages, and friends will be available to you as before.
Can I change from a Premium Flex membership to an Annual Premium Membership?
If you subscribed to Jericho Writers as a Premium Flex for a month and have decided to switch to an Annual Premium Membership (pay upfront or monthly instalments), please follow these steps:
- Go to ‘My Jericho’ in the top right corner of your screen and select ‘My Account’ from the menu.
- Click on ‘Subscriptions’ in the drop-down menu.
- Click on ‘View’ your active subscription and then on ‘Cancel.’
- Now that your previous subscription is cancelled, you can re-join. You can do so by selecting Annual Premium Membership on the Join Us page.
Once you have completed the transaction, your new annual membership should begin automatically and will renew every 12 months.
