Whether you’re just starting out, or are a seasoned professional, there’s something for everyone in this jam-packed weekend!

See below for an overview of what’s in store at this year’s Festival, or see our programme for full details of each session. For accommodation, location and access, see our FAQs.

For details of the fully-funded Jericho/Marjacq Bursary for under-represented writers, see the bursary page.

“I loved the festival. I learned loads and now feel re-energised to write more. Fabulous sessions – jolly yummy food – and lovely people to talk to throughout the weekend.” – Chloe R

Festival success stories

Every year, writers leave the Festival of Writing with literary agents or go on to self-publishing success. Below are a few of our favourites, or view all our success stories.

Joanna Cannon

“The Festival is the most wonderful, supportive, fun environment, filled with amazingly talented people, and I’ve learned so much in the time I’ve been going… Within hours of leaving York and heading back down the M1 [in 2014], I would have seven offers of agent representation.”

Felicia Yap

“It made a huge difference!”

Felicia Yap, was snapped-up by Jonny Geller at Curtis Brown soon after our 2015 Festival of Writing. Her brilliant high-concept thriller, Yesterday, was bought by Headline’s Alex Clarke for a six-figure sum. The book has since been optioned for film.

A perfect Explanation

Eleanor Anstruther

“I’d be very happy to credit Jericho with the enormous helping hand I received at the Festival of Writing 2016.  Not sure I’d be where I am now, if I hadn’t got myself a ticket, taken a deep breath, and stood up on that stage at Friday Night Live.”
