Emma is the author of highly acclaimed book club fiction novels and is known for mixing humour with darker emotional themes. Her debut, The Songs of Us, was snapped up in multiple pre-empts and auctions and was short-listed for the RNA contemporary novel of the year award. Her work has since been translated into seven different languages.
She has had three books published so far: The Songs of Us, The First Time I Saw You and If I Could Say Goodbye. Emma is currently working on her fourth book contracted with Headline Review and due to be published in the summer of 2022.

What Emma says about editing
I love discovering where a writer’s talent lies. Everyone has their own unique strength as a writer, my aim is to help you identify yours and make sure you are using your talent effectively.
Firstly, I will look at your book as a whole while asking key questions: do I care about your characters? Will your readers relate to them and their predicament? Am I engaged right up until the very last page?
I will then analyse your work more closely, looking at genre, pace, voice, checking that you are raising the stakes enough to keep your plot moving forward and if you are making the very best out of a potentially emotive/dramatic scene. Essentially, I will be looking for what, if anything, is pulling me away from the reading experience as well as congratulating you on the parts where I can’t turn the pages fast enough.
