Harry is the bestselling author of a dozen novels and multiple works of non-fiction. CEO
Simon looks after the day-to-day running of Jericho Writers – everything from strategic planning to the numbers to looking after the team. Simon has a 30+ years career in Marketing and Marketing Communications, so is also closely involved in evolving the Jericho Writers brand and its expression. In the little spare time that Simon has he is either found listening to music, playing cricket or pottering around with cars.
Favourite book: Perfume, Patrick Suskind
Head of Membership
Sarah writes novels for Young Adults. OUTSIDE (Penguin) was nominated for the Carnegie Medal in 2019. She’s represented by Sallyanne Sweeney of MMB agency, who she met at a Jericho Writers event. Sarah’s in charge of all things Membership and writes our weekly newsletters.
Favourite book: Peter Pan and Wendy, J. M. Barrie
Head of Customer Services
Stephanie is our customer service queen. If you’ve called us, you may have noticed that she’s French. She studied art history and illustration in Paris, and is a compulsive reader, from science-fiction to literary fiction. She also writes in her free time.
Favourite book: Germinal, Emile Zola
Head of Marketing
Sophie is a writer herself and is represented by the Kate Nash Literary Agency. When she’s not writing or working, she can mostly be found walking her rescue dog, Nellie, in the muddy fields of the Cotswolds. Being asked to choose just one book for this bio is the hardest thing she has ever had to do.
Favourite book: Queenie, Candice Carty-Williams
Head of Community
Holly runs the community here at Jericho Writers and helps oversee the social media output. She’s often involved with Ask Jericho events and webchats and loves to help and inspire people on their writing journeys. Holly is also a mentor and manuscript editor. Outside of Jericho Writers, Holly is a bestselling thriller writer and mother of four. She lives with her family in Amsterdam.
Favourite book: The End of the Affair, Graham Greene
Head of Events
Anna is the founder of the West Hill Writers group in Brighton, works for a range of independent publishers, lectures on book marketing and reads voraciously. She is the host of The Brighton Book Club. Anna loves working with passionate writers, established authors and the fantastic team at Jericho. In her spare time, she enjoys good food, a cold beer, and the odd bit of DIY. You can follow her on Twitter @annamburtt.

Head of Jericho Writers Publishing and AgentMatch
Rachael manages the publishing department and AgentMatch. She has an MA in Eighteenth-Century Literature and Romanticism; she specialises in female sociability and is currently writing a series of articles about her research. You can normally find Rachael in the rare books room at the British Library or in a bookstore looking for yet another Penguin Classic! Rachael also writes a series of blogs, which you can find here.
Favourite book: The Masquerade, Henry Fielding
Customer Support Executive
Polly is one of Jericho’s customer support assistants and you can find her happily answering any publishing related questions you might have. Polly has a BA in Linguistics and an MA in Publishing Media. She’s worked in various roles in the media industry and has a particular penchant for memoirs and feminist non-fiction. She has a book & travel blog called Where Polly Wanders.
Favourite book: The Boy at the Back of the Class, Onjali Raúf
Head of Courses and Mentoring
Maria manages the courses and mentoring services, and our social media accounts. Maria is Maltese but moved to Oxford to do her MA in Publishing and now can’t seem to leave. She spends most of her free time reading books across all genres, taking photos around Oxford, and going to as many gigs and plays as she can afford.
Favourite book: Anything written by Max Porter, Ali Smith or Bernardine Evaristo.
IT Manager
Responsible for maintaining existing IT and introducing new solutions to keep the Jericho Writers digital workplace secure, effective & reliable. Ryan has a PhD in Engineering and enjoys putting his “geeky” interests to use, inventing contraptions of questionable utility in his spare time.
Favourite book: The Selfish Gene, Richard Dawkins
Customer Service Intern
Miriam is currently interning with the Customer Support Team, helping our wonderful writers with anything they might need, from a forgotten password to specific writing advice. She’s Franco-Welsh, studied French and Spanish at university and is currently learning Portuguese. Miriam loves to write in her spare time and is currently working on a poetry and short story collection.
Favourite book: Remains of the Day, Kazuo Ishiguro
Marketing Intern
Esther is currently interning in the Marketing department and doing a part-time MA in Publishing Media. Esther moved to Oxford a year ago from Sheffield – she loves her new city but misses the £3 pints in the North. She did her BA in English Literature and History of Art at the University of York, and her biggest life ambition is to own a sausage dog called Gerald.
Favourite book: Supper Club, Lara Williams
The Jericho Writers team are looking to expand our existing group of excellent editors.
The work is varied, from developmental editing, full manuscript assessments, mentoring, feedback on agent submissions and more.
Pay is based on word count and ranges from between £175 for an agent submission pack review to £470 for a full manuscript assessment.
Who would we like to hear from?
· Experienced commissioning editors who have worked for a commercial publishing house.
· Commercially published authors with a strong track record of their own books published by mainstream publishers.
We’re especially keen to hear from professionals and authors from under-represented backgrounds.
