BLOG: “When A Writing Course Is Everything It Promised And A Bit More”
“In just six weeks, I had found my story.” Another blog today is from Florence Gladwell, a student on the first Writing for Children course, explaining how the course sparked the idea for her debut. If you’re on the fence about committing to a short course in the new year, this is a great overview of what to expect.
SPOTLIGHT ON: Amy Bishop from Dystel, Goderich & Bourret
“I love hearing about women doing kickass things, and learning about the broader social context surrounding them.”
Thank you for a brilliant 2021!
As we race towards the end of the year, it can be tempting to focus only on the thousands of tasks we’ve still yet to complete. But I wanted to pause for a moment to look back over everything we’ve achieved this year, because chances are – you’ve got a LOT to be proud of.
In January, we asked you what your writing goals were. For some (like me!) that was finishing a novel. For others, it was plucking up the courage to send our work out, or even to press ‘publish’ on a new indie venture. Whether you achieved these goals or not, I bet that if you sat down and made a list of everything you did this year to work positively towards your writing, it would read a lot longer than you think. And if, with the looming January blues, you’re still feeling less confident, here’s another blog on overcoming imposter syndrome so you can start the year feeling calm and motivated.
So, over the next couple of weeks, take time to celebrate the small achievements along with the big. Learn from any mistakes and create new goals for the next year. Maybe 2022 is the year you write ‘The End’? Maybe it’s the year you land the agent of your dreams? Whatever the year has in store, we’re so looking forward to working alongside you.
From all of us here at Jericho Writers, we wish you a safe and wonderful new year. Our office is officially closed from 24 December to 4 January, but if you have an urgent query, do mark it as such and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Happy new year!
