First post! About my new novel, a sci-fi thriller with a Victorian Steampunk setting aboard a spaceship, ooh~

Hello, anyone and everyone reading this! I’m a complete newbie, so please be patient with me if I take a while getting used to forum tricks. 🙂

I just tallied my notes for my new novel (I say ‘new’, as if I’m published: I’m not, although I am busy sending out query letters for the first one, which I finished in April), and it’s almost 14k words! Just the notes in various gdocs, and that isn’t even counting my old-fashioned notepad scribbles!

I have my character arcs figured out, the basic plot outline; I have a structure I want to play around with, I know how it begins and how it ends, and now I just have to finish detailing the middle bits, and I can’t tell you how excited I am! Figuring out my third MC really seemed to pull the entire plot together, which feels incredible. For the first one, I was writing before I had a clear view of everything – which isn’t to say I don’t think I’ll change things with this one, I know I will, but I’m going into it with a lot more focus. I know I can do this. 🙂 I have the confidence! I have the power! I can DO THIS!

Just one more week to go until I go on vacation. I can’t wait to really get stuck in with this one.

Can I also just say it’s so nice to be here. I look forward to making new writerly friends and sharing in the trials and tribulations of the writer’s life.
