Laura has over twenty years’ experience in the publishing industry and has a wide-ranging perspective on the publishing industry as she’s worked at leading and small in-house publishers and as a buyer. Laura was the Merchandise Manager for Barnes&Noble.com; she was then hired as the Science and Nature Editor, this developed into buying Science & Nature, Reference, Home & Garden, and Science Fiction & Fantasy books.<\/p>\n

Laura has worked at a variety of publishing houses including the Harmony Books imprint of Crown to Duke University Press and Columbia University Press. She was the Associate Publisher of Council Oak Books (an independent book publisher). Earlier in her publishing career, she was an assistant at Vogue and Glamour Magazine. She studied at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London; one of her aspirations is to be recognised as the ‘dancing science editor.’<\/p>\n

Additionally, Laura has a master’s in Publishing Studies from NYU and her thesis explored the market for serious trade non-fiction.<\/p>\n
