Elizabeth Wales began her career at Oxford University Press in 1980. She also worked at the Strand Bookstore and in trade sales and marketing at Viking Penguin in New York before becoming an agent. She studied at Smith College before studying English and American Literature as a graduate at Columbia University. Elizabeth went into business with Dan Levant to launch literary agency Levant & Wales in 1990.
