Soumeya is initially from the Bay Area of California. She began her career in publishing over a decade ago at McAdam\/Cage in San Francisco. There, she worked on a list comprising literary debuts, serious non-fiction, and translations. After relocating to New York, she worked at the book scouts Sanford Greenburger Associates reporting on the American book market and new titles for international agents and publishers. Soumeya then worked at the Susan Golomb Literary Agency, dealing with the translation and subsidiary rights of Jonathan Franzen, Rachel Kushner, and William T. Vollman. She then moved to Writers House as an agent and, finally, on to HSG (now HG Literary).<\/span> Soumeya is a member of the Association of American Literary Agents (AALA) and serves on their International Rights Committee. She is also a member of the Women’s Media Group and the Center for Fiction’s debut fiction prize committee. Soumeya lives in Brooklyn with her family.<\/p>\n
