Brettne Bloom was born in Houston, Texas. She started out in publishing with an internship at The Atlantic in 1999, after which she became a partner in her own agency, Kneerim, Williams & Bloom, in 2000. Having established an eclectic list of clients, Brettne left Kneerim, Williams & Bloom in June 2015 and, alongside fellow publishing stalwarts Julie Barer, Faye Bender, and Elisabeth Weed, founded The Book Group.
