Tanya wanted to help make books happen, so she entered publishing right out of college, and while her job titles have changed, she has never left that world. She began as an editor, where she deepened her love of accessible, idea-driven non-fiction with the power to transform culture. Next, she worked as a literary scout, representing foreign publishers and Hollywood producers. She is now the Principal and an Agent at McKinnon Literary. For the last eighteen years, she has been a literary agent, helping authors bring their ideas to life and find their audience. In addition to agenting, she has an MA in cultural anthropology, and she teaches a course on Writing for Children in the Publishing Certificate Program at City College.<\/p>\n
The time she has spent on various sides of the industry lets her view the agent-author relationship holistically. She routinely helps her clients shape and sharpen their projects through a rigorous in-house editorial process. In the bigger picture, she works to help authors hone a career trajectory for their work.
