Dominick was born in India and educated in the UK. He began his professional life as a teacher in Uganda, later travelling to the US to pursue a postgraduate degree in African Studies at Northwestern University. He did not enjoy the course, however, so he dropped out in his first term and began working in the editorial department of the magazine Christian Century.<\/p>\n
Dominick then moved to the Chicago-based Henry Regnery publishing house where he gradually realised that he preferred working with authors more than publishers. Seven years later, he left Henry Regnery to found the Dominick Abel Literary Agency Inc. in Chicago but when Dominick’s wife secured a job at the Literary Guild two years later, the pair moved to New York City, where Dominick has since run the agency from Upper West Side, Manhattan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"class_list":["post-935942","agent","type-agent","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
