Shaheen graduated from Bard College in 2012 with a BA in Written Arts and Middle Eastern Studies and is currently studying for her MFA in Writing from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts. Her poetry has been published in Sukoon Magazine (eulogising about the city of Cairo) and the Bard Papers and she was awarded the Wilton Moore Lockwood prize in creative writing. She has also taught writing workshops at Politics & Prose and Duende District and volunteers in public schools as a writing mentor and tutor, such as for the writing school 826DC.<\/p>\n
Shaheen has a varied career in publishing that is largely based in editorial, having worked as a freelance Copy Editor, Media Assistant, Interim Young Authors Book Project Manager and as a Managing Editor of Tadween Publishing, a Middle East academic press. During the latter position, she facilitated the publication of a political cartoon book and a collection of interviews with Iraqi activists.<\/p>\n

Shaheen finally became a Literary Intern at Capital Talent Agency in 2016 and was promoted to Literary Agent in 2017.<\/p>\n
Worked as an editorial assistant at Sheep Meadow Press in New York then as managing editor of Tadween Publishing in Washington D.C.. Has taught writing workshops at Politics And Prose and volunteers as a writing mentor at 826DC.
