Donald graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1975 with a BA in English, doing two of his undergraduate years in London where he worked for a literary magazine. He began his literary career as an Assistant at Dell Publishing and was briefly a Junior Editor. After enjoying his subsequent job at a literary agency, he founded the Donald Maass Literary Agency in 1980, which he still currently runs as President.<\/p>\n

Donald teaches week-long intensive workshops based on his books and attends such conferences as the BONI Graduate Learning Retreat, the London Book Fair, the Breakout Novel Intensive Workshop 2.0, ThrillerFest, Alaska Writers Guild Conference 2010, the Pacific Northwest Writers Conference, the Women’s Fiction Writers Association Writing Retreat, Write on the Sound, Bouchercon, the Surrey International Writers Conference, and the Breakthrough Novel Weekend.<\/p>\n
Donald is a past President of the AAR and is a member of both the AAR and the MWA.<\/p>\n
