Jacqui holds an LLB from the University of Melbourne and LLM and PhD degrees in International and Comparative Intellectual Property Law from Cambridge University. Additionally, she graduated from Vermont College of Fine Arts with an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults. She regularly teaches classes on writing and on legal aspects of publishing around the country for organizations like The Writing Barn, Savvy Authors, and a variety of adult education courses, MA and MFA programs, and libraries.<\/p>\n
Jacqui has worked as a banking and finance attorney in Australia and as a law professor in the UK, US, and Australia, which has given her American and international experience in commercial and intellectual property law. She is the author of Law & Authors: A Legal Handbook for Writers and writes columns on legal issues for writers for the SCBWI Bulletin, Luna Station Quarterly, Catapult Community Page, and Savvy Authors. She is also a frequent presenter on these issues.<\/p>\n
Jacqui began her literary career as a reader for Susan Hawk at the Upstart Crow Literary Agency and since then she has worked as a reader and member of the social media team for the YA Review Network and as an Associate Agent at Storm Literary Agency. She is a member of the SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) and wrote a novel, Inside the Palisade, under the pen name K.C. Maguire.<\/p>\n
Jacqui is a freelance editor alongside agenting and is the director of Authography LLC.<\/p>\n
