Before she became an agent Kate worked in market research before moving into marketing and public relations where she became head of marketing and communications for an international new media company. She founded an innovative marketing and publicity company that worked for a number of UK publishers, book prizes and authors. Kate has a BA in History from the University of York. She is also an author, writing as Kate Allan, of several historical novels and often gives creative writing workshops and talks at conferences and festivals. She is one of the founders of the Writers Workshop York Festival of Writing.
