Sheil Land Associates is a long established literary, theatrical and film agency dating back to 1962. We have fourteen staff including eight agents and their assistants, all of whom are strongly supported by friendly and experienced finance and administrative staff, making us one of the top five literary agencies in the UK. Despite the great list of clients that we have and the large deals that we negotiate, we believe in being a relatively low-profile agency. Our clients are the stars, and we are the advisors, quietly and proficiently guiding, negotiating and managing their interests. Our clients write quality, literary and commercial fiction and non-fiction including thrillers, crime\/mystery, politics, political and military history, gardening, cookery, romance, drama, biography\/memoir, travel, humour, all types of contemporary and literary women’s fiction, self-improvement, mind-body-spirit, lifestyle, popular science and psychology, children’s, young adult, science fiction, fantasy and paranormal, and we also represent celebrities and journalists with a story to tell. We represent playwrights, film and TV (including animation and children’s) writers, documentary makers and directors, radio and TV presenters. A number of them also write successful books. We welcome approaches from new clients who have already published works as well as first time writers. The quality of submissions that we receive is tremendously high but it may be useful to point out that, however much we might wish to take on a new client, we have to bear in mind the very tough market conditions. Sadly we will have to make the difficult decision to turn down some exceedingly good writing.
