Conversations
Get LIVE feedback from a top children’s literary agent on your query letter or first page.
We’ve commandeered literary agent Penny Holroyde from children’s specialist agency, Holroyde Cartey, to read members’ submissions in a live webinar online.
Members of Jericho Writers can submit their query letter or the first page of their children’s or young adult manuscript in advance. These will be displayed on the screen on a first-come-first-served basis, before Penny gives her feedback for everyone to hear, LIVE. And yes – picture book text and a sample illustration (if you have one) are also welcome!
Conversations are open to members of Jericho Writers, only.

FAQs
What work is eligible in the Children’s and YA Slushpile Live?
Penny Holroyde is a specialist agent for all writers and illustrators creating for children and young adults. If your work is aimed at readers under 18, we want to hear from you. This also includes picture book text and illustrations.
Will I have to read out my own work during the Conversation?
Your work will be shown in screen for others to see.
Will I be able to ask questions?
We’ll leave time at the end of the session for you to type questions to ask the agents. We’ll try to cover as many as we can.
Will I need a webcam to join the Conversation?
All you’ll need is an internet connection and something to watch with. You’ll be able to see us, but we won’t be able to see you. You’ll be able to engage with the agents via typed message.
How do I submit work for feedback?
Click the ‘Submit your work’ link on the registration page to ask your question in advance.
Will my work be picked for feedback?
Only writers who attend the Conversation live will stand the chance of being picked for feedback. This is only open to members of Jericho Writers. Due to time constraints, we can’t guarantee that we’ll get around to every submission. However, we’ll be running regular Slushpile LIVE Conversations, so there will be plenty of opportunity to try again next time.
